Do you actually laugh out loud when you type that? Or do you merely use the word to let peeps know you found their comment funny?
I dunno, guess I was just curious to know. I chuckle, I don't laugh out loud, though.

I usually just chuckle. I tend to use lol to signify something that in my head was funny but I never really laughed about it too hard.

I mildly chuckle when I LOL. I literally laugh out loud uncontrollably when I ROFL.

Hmm, I actually don't think I have ever used lol in reference to anything other than League of Legends... Still haven't figured out why people use it...

Nope, there is a scale to how I express my laughter:
Level 1: Lol = Kinda funny
Level 2: Rolf = It's funny I guess but I'm not rolling around
Level 3: Lolol = Funny
Level 4: Lmao = Nearly laughed out loud
Level 5: Omg = Funny, but it might be funny in a lewd way
Level 6: loooooooooooooool = Pretty much explains itself

Yeah, I rarely actually laugh aloud, or at least laugh loudly. I mostly just kinda giggle or whatever.

Reading this made my laugh out loud.
To answer the OP's questions, sometimes lol = breathed out a little more air than usual from my nose in amusement. Whenever I do laugh out loud, it's usually expressed by XD.

First off, for some reason I tend to write "lol" as Lawlz. I don't know why I do and it's been like that since I could ever remember first using it. Maybe it was because I accidentally misspelled it at the time. For sure though, every time I do use any variation of "lol", I know I at least produced a chuckle. However there are times that I just can't stop laughing and I just lose it! This is usally when you will see me use "XD" in my response! :xd: But no matter if I slightly chuckled or literally laughed out loud, whenever you see me post or comment a variant of "lol", take note that you were able to make me smie and I truly thank you for that!

Usually if I'm actually using it as it was intended, I'll have at least exhaled harder than I normally would. I use "xD" for anything I find mildly humorous, often accompanied by an uttered "hah!". If I'm actually properly laughing I'll use something like rofl or possibly xD.
